about

This recording is a Legion Legend for several reasons. Miracle Legion played lots and lots shows, but this one has a special place in the museum. We had been on a pretty long tour that ended with a bunch of dates opening for Pere Ubu. Love them off a cliff. Ending the tour at the Ritz in NY was beyond a highlight. We got a notion to ask UBU if they’d do the last song with us and they all said yes. Everyone but David. He’s a lovely guy, but I’m pretty sure no means no. Nevertheless we tried again and it turned out he didn’t want to sing. I swooped downstairs and grabbed his accordion. Somebody showed him the cords and then he smiled and we all smiled and this is how history is made. The version of ‘Closer to the Wall’ you are hearing is the sound of mental. Three drummers, DT, and the great Jim Jones. Love him off a cliff. Listen for him.

For reasons know one knows anymore we released four of these songs on an ep called ‘GLAD’. It was a weird record, probably wrong move to cut the set in to disjointed bits. I’m relieved we are finally releasing the whole show. ML has always been devoted to context. We present to you ‘GLADDER’. Hello.

about

Miracle Legion New Haven, Connecticut

Miracle Legion are a Connecticut-based band that immediately sprang to life on the heels of a post-R.E.M. guitar rock boom, chiefly because lead singer Mark Mulcahy's voice bore an uncanny resemblance to Michael Stipe's, and the arpeggio guitar structures were akin to Peter Buck's. ... more
